7/5/2023 0 Comments Harrison mixbus sale![]() ![]() I really feel this is beyond Total Fail at Harrison. But I was as determined as some of you apparently are to make it 'work'. Hell, they are selling it for $20 as of yesterday. I really ought to simply uninstall and delete this time waster. Every week since I first got it I have had one ridiculous problem after another and wasted much time resolving each, just like we are wasting time yet again with yet another 'Mixbus: How do I get such and such to work?.' It is such a CPU hog, it uses one core just to put up and draw its GUI. The DAW does function much better in Linux, as it was originally made to run in, but in Windows it is a total DOG. Yeah, Mixbus has great saturation and mixing potential. Face it, Ardour is nothing but a niche hobby DAW, used by a tiny handful of techy types and has no guaranteed future and even less support. I so wish I could just grab that Mixer Page off of that lousy Ardour DAW by its short and curlies and rip it out of that failed DAW to make it a mixer plugin on its own - as Harrison SHOULD have done in the first place. I have been through all the full-install of JACK, tried the ReaRoute bit, tried it all. So you used the installer for 32bit Windows on a 64bit OS?īeen waiting for this POS and PITA Mixbus to rear its ugly head in a Reaper thread yet again. Wow, you are more dedicated than I! I have quite a bit of linux experience, so maybe I'll tackle this! Maybe you will miraculously send me instructions. But right now I get the sound of Mixbus on real time playback from Reaper. I'm not sure how I will capture the final mix- probably record it to a track back in Reaper. I set up Jack in 16 by 16 configuration and am sending 6 stereo streams from Reaper to Mixbus. I didn't spend much time fighting with it, so there is a possibility that it will work given some more effort. The mixed 32/64 bit Jack was not registering in either Mixbus or Reaper. The only configuration that worked for me was 32 bit Reaper and the 32 bit Jack. It's a PITA to get it going because Jack is a fairly typical Linux style app where you need to use command line and manually edit ini files, but once set up it seems to be stable. Not the Jack that's included in Mixbus install- I installed the 32 bit version from. But some people ascribe a huge difference to dither so yes, the sound of the mixers will be fundamentally different to a discriminating user.I actually managed to set up the real time streams using Jack for Windows. In practice, if the EQs are both set flat or bypassed, the difference should be vanishingly small: similar to the magnitude of dither. meaning the signal is always passing through the math, ( bypass simply means that the gain for the EQs is set to "0" ). In both products, the channelstrip EQ is "always in circuit". The sound of Mixbus and Mixbus32C are largely identical. This provides more grouping and effects buses, and allows you to manage a larger mix than the regular Mixbus. Mixbus32C provides 12 stereo mix-buses, with send-level knobs on every channel strip. In addition, each bus send can be "panned" separately from the master bus pan location. We expect this to meet the needs of users who are mixing 8-24 channels. Mixbus provides 8 stereo mix-buses, with send-levels on every channel strip. ![]() ![]() But feature-wise and sound-wise, it meets nearly any need for equalization you would rarely if ever need to add an additional EQ. The 32C EQ requires a larger monitor, to fit all the controls on-screen. The Mixbus32C EQ is a recreation of our analog 32-Series EQ, which has 4 bands ( the top bands can be switched from shelving to peaking ), and both high- and low- pass filters. There are a few cases where you might need to add a plugin EQ, to solve a specific need. 90% of EQ jobs can be handled with a 3band sweepable eq, and a high-pass filter. The Mixbus EQ was specifically designed by Harrison to match our historical records of user's settings.32C is the more expensive program, and it provides a bigger, more feature-ful mixer. Rather than charge less for "limited" versions of Mixbus, we differentiate the price by the "mixer" features, which is what Harrison is known for. In both Mixbus and Mixbus32C, you receive a full-featured DAW with unlimited audio tracks, unlimited MIDI tracks, and unlimited plugins.īoth Mixbus and Mixbus32C provide professional features such as VCA's, video playback, "ripple" editing, timecode display, LTC/SMPTE sync, and other features that are rarely included in an entry-level program. ![]()
